When Eliezer sees his father being beaten with an iron bar, he keeps silent and thinks of "staling away" so he won't have to watch what's happening. Instead of directing his anger at the Kapo, he becomes mad at his father. What do you think is really going on inside of Eliezer? Who is he really mad at?
He is feeling upset that his father is being beaten and is angry at the incapability of his father to live up to the expectations.
ReplyDeleteHe isn't really angry at his father. He is angry at the Germans and the world for letting this happen. There's no other emotions he could feel, only anger. Seeing his father in such a weak state makes him mad but he isn't truly angry at his dad. Nothing is fair in the camps and its not his fathers fault, he knows that.
ReplyDeleteHe is mad at the situation. I believe that he knows that if he got mad at the kapo that he could easily be just like his father being brutally beaten, so instead he gets mad at his father. He mad he has to sit there watching him get beat he should have to see that so ohe takes it out on him.
ReplyDeleteElie believed that in order to be safe you had to always be working hard and moving fast. At first Elie was probably really mad at the Kapo for harming his father but then he directed that anger to his dad because his dad wasnt careful and wasnt being strong like he was supposed to be. Elie constantly reminded his dad to keep going and to not fall behind but when the time comes to be strong when he's noticed, Elie's father fell behind. I think Elie was also mad with his dad because he wasn't thinking like a person trying to survive and that disappointed him.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Elie was mad at himself for not protecting his father and mentioned the monster inside of himself that he was becoming. He was thinking about himself and worried about what would happen to him if he tried to stop the kapo.it came to a point where it’s my life or his, and I’m sure that he didn’t want to be beaten himself.
ReplyDeletewell elie knows that his father doesn't really work hard but beating him wont slove anything it will just make him weaker. Elie wanted to stop them but he knew if he did they would beat him to so he just stood there and watch his father get beaten up. but he isn't mad at his dad
ReplyDeletei think he was mad at himself and the kapo for beating his father and hurting him i think he was mad cause he feels he needs to protect his father from harm and he is probably just mad at the situation that he is put in
ReplyDeleteI believe Elie is mad at his father for not being weak and not being able to stand up for himself. His dad is weak and he cant help himself to be alive. Elie was probably mad that he got his dad in this situation. Elie being angfry at his dad could of been a random thought after thinking about his father being weak and not helping himself.
ReplyDeleteElie believed that in order to be safe he had to bear the anger. he was mad to father instead because he felt that he was not doing the work correctly as he should be doing. He thought that if only he did the work correctly than he won't be dealing with the kapo. In order to control his anger toward the kapo, he got mad at his father.
ReplyDeleteI think Elie is mad at himself and the others. He think he can't protect his father, and no one can protect him,no one can protect theirselves,no one can end this nightmare, they can only take orders from that crazy guys, even the god can't help them.
ReplyDeleteEliezer was mad at his father for letting the Kapo do that to him and for doing something that would allow the Kapo to beat them. Eliezer is probably so full of fear he doesn’t know how to think of the situation so he automatically but his anger toward his father.
ReplyDeleteElie was actually mad at the Kapo, but since he knew that he couldn't do anything he directed that anger to his father. He turned that anger into fear of losing his father, because he didn't want to lose him. The fear of losing his father was so great that he would blame his father for being so dumb, to be caught up in this beating,
ReplyDeleteElie was mad at the kapo but he couldnt do anything to him so he directed his anger at his father. He did this because he was afraid of losing his father.
ReplyDeleteelie is really made at the kapo but he cant do anything the the kapo, he directed his anger at his father for not doing anything to defend himself from being beaten and for doing something that made him get beat.
ReplyDeleteElie is really mad at the kapo, the world, and God for letting this happen. For letting the camps go on and no one getting a word out to the public. In his mind he is thinking about how he wishes he could slap and beat the kapo twice as hard as he was beating Elie's father. He wanted to hurt the man badly but feared getting into trouble so just sat there.
ReplyDeleteHe was mad that his father got in the way because he did not want to see his father being beaten. Eliezer is also mad at himself because he cant help his father, or at least, does not have the will.
ReplyDeletewhat i think is going through Elies head is feelings of hurt, anger, confusion, and maybe disbelief. i think he is actually mad at him self for not defending his father and not being there to protect his dad. i think he just didn't know how to act upon his anger and brought it out on his dad
ReplyDeleteEliezer could just be mad at the whole situation, not picking sides to be exact, but having anger towards the Germans for Beating his father so brutally. Turning towards being mad at his father because he made a scene with the Germans getting beat. He slowly walked always because it could potentially be bad for both of them. Eliezer is just trying to advoid conflict with the Nazis.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Elie is not only mad at the Kapo, but he is also mad at himself.
ReplyDeleteHe is mad at the Kapo for putting his father through so much pain with such a brutal instrument.
He is mad at himself because he knows that there is nothing that he could do in order to save his father from that raging beating.
I think he is dying on the inside. Nobody wants to see their own father get beat. He is scared to do something about it because he knows if he tries then he will get beat, too
ReplyDeleteI think that he is angry at his father because he hates seeing his father as not a man and as a person who is being beaten. He is actually mad at his father and not at the kappo or maybe he is mad at himself for not being able to protect his father.
ReplyDeleteI think that he was angry because Elie hates seeing his father being beaten and tortured, knowing that his father is helpless and weak. I think that Elie was possibly mad at himself because he knew that if he tried to stand up for his father, that he could also get beaten.
ReplyDelete7. When the Kapo beats Elie's father Elie is probley thinking how much he hates the world, his life, everything. I think that he was full of hatred for letting himself be put into this camp and I think he was very angry with the Germans. When Elie first saw his father being beaten he thought it was his fathers fault, Elie did realize that this thought was cruel and not legitimate and hated the camp more for what it had did to him And turned him into
ReplyDeleteI don’t think he was angry at his dad. I think that he was angry at the world and the situation. He didn’t direct his anger at the kapo because he didn’t want to get beat up or killed. I think that he believed that to be safe you had to hold the anger in.
ReplyDeleteThe person that ellie is really mad at is himself, ellie is mad at himself because ellie couldnt do anything, he couldnt defend his father from the kapo.
ReplyDeleteElie isn't angry at his father, he is angry at the situation they are in and what has happened to them. Elie knew that there was no use in being angry at the Kapo. The main feeling he has is fear, which is being turned into anger towards his father because there is nothing he can do to help him.
ReplyDeleteelie is upset that he wasnt able to help his dad when the kapos were beating him. he feels that hes going to lose him.
ReplyDeleteI think that he's trying to handle his emotions towards the whole situation he can't tell who to be mad at so he decides that he's mad at himself for not being able to do anything to help his father.
ReplyDeleteHe is really stressed out and he is mad at the kapo but he doesnt wanna get in trouble with them so instead he directs his anger to his father.
ReplyDeleteHe is thinking to much about the situation and so he blames his Father for what happened. Also he is mad that his Father would take a beating like that, without fighting back and being a "coward". But if he were to get mad at the kapo he could act against and get killed so he directs his anger at his Father.
ReplyDeleteThe person I really think he was mad at was life and how it has treated him. The reason why I think he’s mad at life is because he’s got beaten and treated as someone with no equality witch is shown in many spots in the book, for an example when he had his shoes forcefully taken away. The angle of angle wasn’t pointed at his father but pointed at what life has done to him
ReplyDeletei think he was mad at everyone. His father was just letting it happen. the kapo was beating his father relentlessly. God especially think because in almost every chapter he talks about how he has lost faith in his God completely.
ReplyDeleteElie becomes angry at his father for not knowing how to avoid the Kapo’s outburst.
ReplyDelete: I think he really is mad at his dad, but also at himself for not saying anything. It’s his dad’s actions that got him beat, not Elie’s. He truly wanted to do something, and stick up for his dad, but I think he was scared to get beat by the Kapo as well.
ReplyDeleteHe's angry at really everyone because the Germans because they're beating his father. But also, at his father because he's so weak that he can't do anything anymore.
ReplyDeleteHe is scared that his dad is getting beat up by the kapo and also because his dad has to go through the pain of getting beat up and that he knows he can not do anything to help his dad even though he wants to help him but everyone in this camp are all on their own.
ReplyDeletei think Elie was mad at his dad for getting on the guards bad side and that he was also not defending himself from the hits. i also think elie was mad at himself for not helping his father.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think Elie was really mad or upset at his father, I think he was mad at the situation they were put in and what they were forced with going through, he was unhappy with all of the bad things happening to him in his life and took it out on the people around him especially his father.
ReplyDeleteI think that Eliezer was mad at himself and also his father because he was scared to help his father. I think he was angry that Auschwitz changed him and his father to be people that wouldn’t fight for themselves because of fear.
ReplyDeleteInstead of being mad at the kapo, the obvious answer would be his father. Why couldn't he fight back? Why did he just sit there getting beaten. Why didn't he revolt. Hit back? Fight? But maybe he was mad at himself because he couldn't do anyting, but watch
ReplyDeleteEliezer is really mad at the situation. He is mad that he and his dad have no control over anything that is happening in their lives at this time. I don’t believe that he was actually mad at his dad, but that he was really mad that his dad wasn’t, and wasn’t able to do anything about the beating. He and his dad were completely helpless and this sense of having no control had Elie finding things to blame for it.
ReplyDeleteI think that Elie wasn't truly mad at his father. He was mad at the German because of what they had done and God for letting this happened. He was mad at everything. Madness was all he could feel. Elie was probably really mad at the Kapo for beating his father and then he might be mad at his father because he wasn't careful and he was not strong as he used to be. Moreover, he also might be upset at himself because he couldn't do anything to protect his father and to stop the German.
ReplyDelete• I think that elie feels very upset that his father is being beaten. But I think he becomes mad at his father because he can’t take his anger out on the kapo. Otherwise he would be beaten too. He ends up mad at his father because he used to be capable of fighting for himself but now at camp when he needs the strength the most he is too weak to fight for himself. I think this upsets elie very much.
ReplyDeleteI know deep down that he fells sad for his father being beaten. Later in the book he tells us that he was mad that his father did not strike back after being beaten. I think that Elie doesn't know that his father is too weak to fight back let alone take down a man with an iron bar.
ReplyDeletehe was probably mad at himself because he didn't get up and help his own father instead he just laid there and listened to the kapo beat him
ReplyDeleteWhen his dad was beaten with an iron bar by the Kapo he thought about going away so that he doesn't have to all the things. He might be too scared to fight against the Kapo. I think inside of him was mad at himself, his dad, every Jews and his weakness, not Kapo for beating his dad or Hitler.
ReplyDeleteElie is mad because he believes that he’s being weak when he feels emotional about his father being beaten. In truth, he is mad at himself.
ReplyDeleteI think that Elie was really mad and sad inside him. He still would of not helped because if he would of he could get beaten up himself or even get killed. And he doesn't want his father to look how his son dies or suffers. So i think instead of risking his own life he just keeps silent.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it isn't really his father that he is mad at but it's himself. I think there is a lot of really mixed feelings of rage and sadness inside of him at the moment.
ReplyDeletei think he was mad at him self because he could not do nothing about it so he did not want to step in and get hurt really bad so he was mad because his father never did nothing about it so he was so frustrated he just tryed to hold his anger and not let it out because he could get selected and killed or killed right there in front of his father but he did not want to see him die that way while he knows whats happening and not doing anything about it.
ReplyDeleteElie is probably mad at himself he cant be mad at the capo because of his fear in them and he wasn't a personal friend its easier to get mad at a friend then a man you know nothing about elie is ashamed that he didn't stand up for him that he wasn't doing something he was angry at himself ant took it out on his father
ReplyDeleteI think he was mad at himself for not doing anything when his father was getting slapped over and over.
ReplyDeleteHe was basically mad at himself for not doing anything and was just standing there. He was also wondering why didn't he move, why didn't I just protected my father.
ReplyDeleteI think he's mad at his dad ,the Kapo, and himself. He's mad at this dad for getting himself in that situation and at the Kapo for hitting his dad and at himself for not defending he's dad but he knew if he defended his dad he could have gotten killed and his dad doesn't want that to happen.
ReplyDeleteI that Eliezer was mad at himself because he did not and could not really protect his father or help him from being beaten.
ReplyDeleteElie is angry at himself that he can't protect and help his father from being beaten. There is nothing that he can do but watch or turn away because Elie know what will happen if he tries to do something when his father gets beat. Elie is angry at the Kapo for beating his father. They can't stand up for themselves or for others. All Elie could do is get angry and sad about the whole situation, nothing else.
ReplyDeleteEliezer was truely mad at himself for not being able to stand up for his father back then. But he glued down the thought into his mind that it was his fathers fault for being so fragile; so weak. Elie was just searching for a way to take the guilt off himself.
ReplyDeleteI think that Elie wasn't truly mad at his father. well he was probably mad at him for doing nothing but at the same time he was mad at him for doing nothing just staring at his father getting beat up. but he told himself it was his fathers fault for being so helpless and weak.
ReplyDeleteElie wasn't really mad at his dad he was more mad at the fact that he wasn't doing anything and then he was also probably mad at the fact that he wasn't doing anything too and was just watching his dad get beat up and he told himself that it was his dads fault that he was helpless and he was to weak to anything about it.
ReplyDeleteI think ellie was not really mad at his dad but was really mad at god. God had forsaken him and had just left him and all the other jews to die in the camp. He was mad at god because god was supposed to save them and to protect them. Ellie was really just suffering from internal conflict.
ReplyDeleteHe was angry his father didn't know how to avoid angering the Kapo.I believe that elie is angry not at his father but at the Germans and at god because he had been left there and was being beaten every day and god hadn't answered his prayers or acknowledge them.
